Franshezka chose to write of drugs and gangs, for she believes these two things are closely related. At a young age, she found herself right in the middle when her brother developed a taste for meth – gang life was soon to follow. Acording to her research, 20 percent of students aged 12 through 18 reported that street gangs had been present at their school during the previous 6 months. Gangs attract kids who are highly susceptible to peer pressure and they often confuse being in gangs for being in a club of sorts saying who’s in what gang and what not. In her community profile, Franshezka seeks to not only shed light on gang culture but to explain the effects on friends and family. Her hope is for young people to avoid the life before it starts.
